The Humboldt County Rodeo Club opened up the new season of the Nevada High School Rodeo Association in Gardnerville from Aug. 28-30.

Emma Garijo had a strong opening weekend, finishing second in the average in pole bending with a time of 42.585 seconds. Garijo was third in the first performance at 21.688 and fourth in the second performance at 21.668. 

She placed third in the average barrel racing with a combined time of 36.339 seconds. She placed in the top-10 in each performance, recording a time of 18.094 in the first performance and 18.245 in the second.

In addition, she finished 17th in the breakaway roping.

Lexi Garijo placed 16th in breakaway roping, 24th in barrel racing and 25th in pole bending.

Sierra Fears was 21st in pole bending, 27th in barrel racing and 29th in breakaway roping.

Isaac Mori was second in the reined cow horse average with 290.5 points. Mori won the second performance of the vent with 146.5 points. 

Mori placed second in the boys cutting average with 140 points. He scored 71 points in the first performance and 69 in the second, to place as the runner-up in both performances.

Cooper Hill was fourth in the boys cutting average with 63 points. Hill placed second in the rifle shoot and fifth in the trap shoot. Billy DeLong was sixth in the tie-down roping average.

The Humboldt County Rodeo Club took part in the Lincoln County Rodeo this past weekend.
