The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team had its season come to an end this past Friday night in Yerington at the Northern 2A Regional Championships.

Just a week after hosting Incline to end the regular season, Battle Mountain saw that same squad in Yerington for the opening round of the tournament.

The Highlanders grabbed the momentum quickly with a 25-11 win in the first set and went on to win the last two sets 25-16 and 25-17.

The Lady Longhorns finished the year 10-17 overall and 5-9 in the Northern 2A.

North Tahoe beat Incline in the semifinals, as did Yerington over Pershing County, both in five sets. Yerington went on to beat North Tahoe 35-33, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-20 to win the regional title.

Yerington will play Lake Mead in the state semifinals at Hug on Friday at 2 p.m.

North Tahoe plays The Meadows at 3:45 p.m. at Hug on Friday.
