As the 2021 spring season gets going a month late, the Lowry High School boys golf team made the trip to Spring Creek last Thursday, for the first of six 3A East tournaments this year.

Just a day prior to the tournament, the Spring Creek Golf Course received a couple inches of snow, but was ready for play the following day.

Four of the six 3A East teams took part in the tournament, with Fernley and Dayton not making the trip.

Elko took home the team title with a score of 400, while host Spring Creek was second at 421. Churchill County (432) was third and Lowry was fourth at 433. The Buckaroos had two freshmen in the lineup, playing in their first high school tournament.

Spring Creek senior Kevin Thompson was the low medalist at 87 and Elko senior Kaden Konakis was second at 94.

Churchill County’s Colton Tousignant was third with a round of 97 and Lowry’s Cal Peters and Elko’s Derek Elquist tied for fourth at 99.

Lowry freshmen Trenton Mullis carded a 107, while fellow freshman Landon Esquivel shot 112.

The Buckaroo scored were rounded out by Brett Ferraro (115) and Seamus Maloon (117).

Lowry travels to Fallon on Wednesday for its next tournament. The Buckaroos host their tournament on Tuesday, May 11.
