The American Legion Post #6 held its annual Memorial Day flag ceremony last Monday. They honored three of Lovelock’s fallen soldiers with song and prayer.

Keith Sanders died in the Vietnam War on Nov. 2, 1969. Thomas Sickert gave his life in Iraq on Dec. 6, 2005. On May 19, 2009, Sean Ward perished during a military training exercise.

Legion members and the public unfolded a flag on the courthouse steps. They paraded down Main Street and raised the Stars and Stripes over Lovelock.

The Legion officers include Sis Reid (Commander), Matt Padgett (1st Vice), Jack Aries (Sgt. at Arms), Michael Mancebo (Adjutant), Dale Talcott (Finance Officer) and Lou Lusardi (Service Officer). In March 2021, they lost Commander Doug McLean, 79. According to Mancebo, they will elect new officers later this month.
