    More than four in 10 Nevada voters believe the economy is the most important issue facing Nevada, and just three months away from the midterm elections, it could be the single biggest force driving them to the polls, according to a new Nevada Independent/OH Predictive Insights poll.
    As Republicans hammer Democrats over the country’s 40-year high inflation rate and raise questions about whether the U.S. is in a recession, the poll found Nevada voters are more concerned about the economy than any other issue facing the Silver State.

    The state’s first rural case of monkeypox has been identified in Humboldt County.
    The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Office of State Epidemiology, confirmed the positive result on Monday, August 8. 
    According to the state, the individual has not required hospitalization and is isolating at home; no other cases have been identified in Nevada’s rural counties.

    The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will end most walk-in services and switch to an appointment-only business model starting Monday, August 15.
    Sustained staff shortages and high customer demand hastened the move to eliminate walk-in services at the DMV’s six largest offices in Carson City, Henderson, Las Vegas and Reno.

    Students are returning to classrooms with additional resources this year. The State of Nevada has invested $75 million for free school meals in Nevada schools operating the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to continue pandemic recovery and ensure students have food to eat by providing free school breakfast and lunch. NSLP is administered through the Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA).
