Tonia Bakker has been named the new director at the Battle Mountain Senior Center.
It has been a year since news of our Battle Mt. senior  center has been written. Tonia  Bakker is our new director.

Her goals have been to open up the center and get back to normal with lunches, bingo, and transport  to doctor appointments.

Seating for lunches  is arranged now in a large box shape. We can now see each other and visit with everyone.

Book shelves have now been put into the craft room. We now have a lot more space for browsing.

They look nice . Furniture has been rearranged with piano in the middle. Tonia is available to help serve meals, help in the kitchen, and give suggestions  for new recipes that can be tried. Food is excellent.

Our cooks are great. She starts she would like the center to be a place that we want to go to and enjoy other activities and they look forward to going there for that.

She likes and cares about Seniors. We all think she is doing great.

On a sad note, many of our seniors have passed away that we knew.

Covid 19 and other health problems have been  active this winter.

We didn’t have the time to say goodbye. We have a new  group coming for lunch and want to extend  a welcome to all. I love to hear the fresh ideas and talk with them.

Russell Neal has very busy doing hard puzzles this winter. He just took two months to complete “The Game Of Thrones.”

It is on display  at the center, come and see it. He has given two of his puzzles away  for bingo raffle prizes.

We have a lot of fun and popcorn is also served at our bingo games. Call 635.5311 for more information.
