    The Lovelock community is in a state of shock this week after a local resident was allegedly shot in the head by her husband. The adult female is in treatment for life-threatening injuries at a Reno hospital while her husband is deceased due to an apparently self-inflicted gunshot according to city police.

    Sunday morning, Aug. 28, at 2 in the morning, the 200 block of Bridge Street was evacuated, due to a fully engulfed fire at the old theater building next to Ben's Discount Liquor.

    Bureau of Land Management firefighters are working to contain a wildfire east of the I-80 freeway Cosgrave rest area, according to BLM spokesperson Terah Malsam. The blaze started Sunday night at around 11 p. m. and had reached about 830 acres with 60 percent containment as of Monday afternoon.

    There was an attempted shooting in Winnemucca Tuesday night. According to Lieutenant Pam Coats of the Winnemucca Police Department, a man shot once into a vehicle which was stopped at 702 McArthur Street.

    Candice Anderson has been deemed a wanted fugitive by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear for her sentencing. The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the U.S. Marshall's Office in the hunt for the young woman.
