William “Bill” Charles Lage passed away on April 20, 2020 at his home in Winnemucca, Nevada. Bill was born on January 7, 1926 in East Ely, Nevada to August H Lage and Anna McKenzie Lage. 

Bill served in the Navy during World War II for 2 years. Bill married Betty Larsen in 1947 and the two shared many happy and loving years together. 

Bill attended Diesel Mechanic school in Beloit, Wisconsin. 

He was also a self-taught and well accomplished Geologist.

Bill worked for Nevada State Roads Department, Elko County Roads Department and as a Mine Manager for various mining companies around Nevada and Idaho since 1968. 

As a miner and geologist, Bill moved to various mining towns in Northern Nevada. Bill and Betty have lived in Winnemucca, Nevada for the last 52 years.

Bill belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. He served as 1st councilor of the bishopric for 4 years.

Not only was geology and mining Bill’s work but it was also his passion and hobby. He loved his work so much. He built a Cinnabar Mill in Winnemucca. 

Bill is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty. His sons, Robert Lage, John M Lage, and daughter Marta Lage. Grandchildren; Yvette Allen, Stacie Johanson, Darcie Johanson, James Lage, Jeremy Lage, Cretia Guzman, Eric Lage, Ashley Tarter and 5 step-grandchildren. Great-grandchildren; Matthew Reyes, Coty Allen, Mekeyla Allen, Kristian Prieto, Spencer Lage, Aurora Lage, Maddox Lage, Christine Reulas, Dominic Garcia and Camilla Bermudez. 

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, August and Anna Lage, brother HA (Sam) Lage and his daughter; Deborah L. Johanson. 

The Lage family would like to thank the Winnemucca Senior Center, Guiding Light Hospice, Genesis Hospice and their many many friends. 

A private family burial will take place at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
