Dennis Alan Hemmert died on August 8, 2020 in Spanish Fork, Utah as a result of Parkinson’s Disease. We love him and will miss him.

Dennis was born on May 28, 1951 in Oakland, California to George and Betty Hemmert. He was the third of their four sons. 

Dennis was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

He served a two-year mission in the Colorado New Mexico mission. He married Helen Freeman in the Provo Temple on September 12, 1974.

Dennis moved frequently as a child because his dad was a career Navy officer, but the happiest years of his childhood were spent in Tremonton, Utah where he learned to love tractors on his uncle’s dairy farm.

He moved to Carson City, Nevada in his teens. After high school, he earned a degree in auto mechanics from Utah Technical College. 

He worked as a mechanic for the State of Nevada Department of Transportation and lived in Winnemucca, Nevada for 41 years where he and Helen raised their family.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter Penny. He is survived by his wife, Helen, his brothers: Tracy (Rita), Roger (Darla), Russ (Tammy), his children: Sonja (John), Kurt (Stacy), Greg (Kim), Anthony (Emily), Tiffany (Miranda), and his grandchildren: Brayden, Natalie, Erin, Casey, Kendra, Isaac, Remi, Emerson, Jane, and Joseph.

Dennis served his community at the Winnemucca Ministerial Food Bank. Remembrances in the name of Dennis Hemmert can be donated to a local food bank.

Dennis’s family express their thanks and appreciation to Aspen Ridge Hospice and Beehive Home of Spanish Fork for the gentle care that made Dennis’s calm and peaceful passing possible.

Dennis was interred in the Springville City Cemetery, Springville, Utah on August 15, 2020.
