Rebecca Jean Wangen passed away on January 2, 2020 in Roseville, California at the age of 65. Rebecca or “Becky”, as most knew her, was born on October 17, 1954 in Gridley, California to Don and Eva Evans. 

Becky grew up in Fair Oaks, CA, she graduated from Bella Vista High School with the Class of 1972. Upon graduation, she attended Carmichael Beauty College and she worked as a cosmetologist until 1975. 

Becky married Gary Wangen on January 23, 1978. The two were married for 23 years, until his passing in 2001. They raised their children and shared a wonderful life together.

Becky moved to Winnemucca, Nevada in 1976, where she lived for 30 years. She worked at the Winner’s Casino Pit Boss from 1976 to 1993 and at the Raley’s Bakery from 1993 to 2006.

In 2006, Becky moved to Reno, where she continued to work for a Raley’s in the Bakery until 2008.

She then moved to French Gulch, CA in 2011, where she lived until her passing. 

Becky met Vernon Shepherd and the two and their families shared the coming together of two families with a Unity Ceremony on January 16, 2016 and they spent their time together until her passing. 

Becky was a member of the French Gulch Community Church and she also served as Chairwoman of the French Gulch Flare-Ups. She loved her church and attending and participating in church activities.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her daughters and any time she spent with her family. 

Becky enjoyed being outdoors; especially at the beach or in the Redwoods. She loved camping, baking, shopping, crocheting, crafting with her grandkids, and trips up the coast... or any spontaneous road trip!

Becky is survived by her children; Anna (Michael), Heather (Jack), Heidi and Gary. her second husband; Vernon Shepherd and his children Jennifer, Jessica and Kayla. Her grandchildren; Troy, Kody, Gage, Jerica, Lyrique, Brett, Jacklynn, Adellyn, Jordynn, Ava, Jada, Aspen, Parker, Pierce, Hudson, Paisley, Mathew, Emily and Kylen. Great-grandchildren; Camille and Lincoln. Her Parents; Don and Eva Evans. Brothers; Donnie Evans, Brad (Angella) Evans, and Greg. Sisters; Janice (Charles) Hagen, Melody De Salles. She is also survived by one aunt and numerous uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her best friend; Cheryl Palmer. 

She is preceded in death by her first husband; Gary Wangen Sr., Lyness and Jordis Wangen, William Evans and Maria Franco.

The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and ICU nurses of Sutter Roseville Hospital.

Services will be held at the D3 Church on Saturday, January 11, 2020. Viewing at 12 pm, Service at 1 pm. Burial to follow at the Winnemucca Cemetery.
