Maxine Mae Bell Duncan rose peacefully to heaven January 17, 2020 at the age of 92.  

She was born November 24, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio to Jack and Ada Bell. 

The family traveled around the country with her father working as a cowboy/horseshoer and her mother picking up the cooking duties.  

Maxine was the oldest of 9 children of which only 3 survived to adulthood.  In the early 1940’s the family settled in Las Vegas, NV where Maxine worked in a saddle shop and later for the Las Vegas Review Journal.  

In 1949 her parents and two younger sisters relocated to Lovelock, NV; soon Maxine joined them.  

It was in Lovelock where she met and married Bige Duncan on December 10, 1949. 

Maxine moved to the Duncan Ranch and together she and Bige raised kids and cattle for the next 60 plus years.  

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bige; her parents Jack and Ada, sister Treva, sons Bige Jr and David, and daughter Debbie.  She is survived by her sister, Bunny Andersen; son Dan Duncan (Joan), daughter-in-law Marie Duncan; grandchildren Dani Jeanne Lawrence (Tyler), Blake Portman (John), Kelli Edmonds (Daniel), Abigah (AJ) Duncan (Laura), and Blair Smith (Cameron); 15 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members. 

Memorial services for Maxine Duncan will be held February 1, 2020, 11:00am at the Catholic Hall – 685 11th Street, Lovelock NV 89419, followed by burial at The Lone Mountain Cemetery and a luncheon back at the Catholic Hall.
